What a wonderful weekend catching up with old friends and making new ones! Our annual TNSW Seniors Tennis Tournament was held at our Hawks Nest courts over 3 days, enjoying magnificent weather throughout. Our 46 entrants competed in Mixed, Men’s & Ladies Doubles with a warm up on the Friday’s “American Doubles”, the perfect meet and greet to get started!

Ages ranging from 30 to 80 years, prizes were hotly contested by players on the court providing lots of competitive and entertaining tennis! Our local members along with a supportive group from the local Karuah tennis club provided a welcoming atmosphere along with a great smorgasbord of food, free tea and coffee plus ice eskies on court to keep the drinks cold. All with the pounding sound of waves crashing in the background and welcoming coastal breezes in the afternoon.

End of day drinks and complimentary platters enjoyed by players every afternoon giving all an opportunity to discuss the days triumphs and losses. Lots of cheering from the sidelines with a couple of the men flipping one of the picnic tables when they sat down which provided extra entertainment for us all! Myra & Kris bought “Buddy”, their parrot, who quickly became the tournament mascot delighting everyone that came across him with Steve Taylor spending most of the afternoon with Buddy on his shoulder. Others were not so impressed!

We were also fortunate to have an Osteo and Acupuncturist on site for the duration of the tournament for players needing massage and relief for injuries. A 10am start for the last event on Sunday allowed entrants time to take a morning swim and leisurely breakfast before taking to the court for the final round. A big thank you to you all for helping us make the weekend a huge success with so many pitching in to help. See you all next year plus maybe some more new faces…all welcome!!
